The department consists of 20 beds. Admission is through the clinic, followed by the admissions office, which receives patients from the public sector, institutions, charitable organizations, and the private sector, in accordance with the hospital's internal regulations. The clinic conducts initial examinations of patients and provides follow-up care after treatment. It is equipped with a color Doppler ultrasound.
- The department has an operating room where scheduled surgeries are performed daily, and it is accompanied by one bed in intensive care.
- The Vascular Surgery Department performs all vascular surgeries within its specialties and cooperates with other departments to participate in complex surgeries, including oncology, combined carotid surgery with cardiac surgery, and organ transplantation.
- The department also performs intraluminal vascular therapeutic interventions for all occlusive atherosclerotic diseases (balloon dilatation with stent implantation) and aneurysmal dilation (treatment of central and peripheral aneurysms with stent grafts). This is performed in the catheterization laboratory.
- The department covers all internal consultations for other departments.
The department conducts arterial and venous ultrasound (color Doppler echo) of the lower and upper extremities, as well as the neck, central, and visceral vessels.
The department's responsibilities include undergraduate academic work and postgraduate studies. Theoretical and practical courses are held for both stages according to the programs established by the Deanship of the Faculty of Medicine at Damascus University. The department also supervises the graduation theses of students in both stages.
The department participates in weekly internal scientific activities at the hospital (internal medicine and surgery departments) and scientific sessions outside the hospital, in addition to union scientific seminars and conferences.
The department accepts students in the specialty stage from other hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education in the country's governorates or with the Ministry of Health and Military Medical Services for training courses lasting six months or one year after obtaining the necessary legal approvals.
