The Cardiac Surgery Department's activities include:
- Examining all patients nominated for cardiac surgery and performing the necessary procedures. We also examine and follow up on patients who have undergone previous cardiac surgery.
- We accept all patients, both adults and children over two years old, nominated for cardiac surgery.
- They are prepared for surgery, and their families are given a brief and simplified explanation of the procedure and the likelihood of success or risk.
- All necessary medical examinations and consultations are also performed, as well as patient comfort, particularly psychologically.
- Patients who have undergone cardiac surgery are returned to the Cardiac Surgery Department after their condition stabilizes in the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit, where they are prepared for discharge.
- Among the activities beneficial to our patients before and after surgery is a respiratory physiotherapy department dedicated to rehabilitating patients before and after surgery, as well as conducting beneficial breathing sessions.
- The department is equipped with cardiopulmonary resuscitation tools and medications, from intubation equipment to a defibrillator. There is also a physician on call 24 hours a day. Our department is affiliated with the hospital's Surgery Department and also with the Surgery Department of the Faculty of Medicine at Damascus University.

We perform most of the cardiac surgeries required by adult patients, which are performed in most centers worldwide. For children, we treat most cases affecting children over the age of two. Under this heading, we list the following surgeries:
1. Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), whether open-heart or beating-heart.
2. Valve replacement or repair.
3. Treatment of congenital heart defects in children over the age of two.
4. Collaborative procedures with vascular or pulmonary surgeons.
5. Follow-up surgical treatment with care, including medical and other measures, and even emergency surgery if necessary. Our care is equipped with the latest equipment, especially with the necessary monitors and syringes.
