Assessment of Femoral Vein Wall Thickness as a Diagnostic Indicator in Behçet's Disease Patients"

🔬 Syrian Medical Study Proposes New Diagnostic Approach for Behçet’s Disease via Femoral Vein Wall Damascus – In a notable scientific advancement, a Syrian research team has explored the thickness of the femoral vein wall as a potential diagnostic tool for patients with Behçet’s disease—a chronic autoimmune condition affecting populations along the historic Silk Road and known for its multi-organ involvement. This approach emerges amid the absence of standardized diagnostic criteria for the disease, which currently relies solely on clinical symptoms. Researchers hope that measuring femoral vein wall thickness could serve as an additional indicator to support medical diagnosis and early detection. The study was conducted as part of a postgraduate thesis in collaboration between the Division of Vascular and Interventional Surgery at the National University Hospital, the Rheumatology Division at Al-Mowasat University Hospital, and the National University Hospital. Contributors to the research include: Dr. Raghad Tarsha, Dr. Moataz Hanna, Prof. Mohammad Ali Al-Nahhas, and Prof. Maysoon Qudsi. The findings are expected to pave the way for further studies aimed at developing precise diagnostic tools that enhance care for Behçet’s disease patients both regionally and globally.
